多年前，我曾拜師學紫微斗數，師父來自台灣，經常跟我和其他同學分享他學命理的趣事。他學風水期間，他的師父叮囑他，要養成半夜到山上古墓“吸靈氣”的習慣，因古墓是風水寶地，在那種地方停留的時間長了，對陰陽五行的觸覺會變得更敏感，給客戶的預測會更準。

我最終沒認真把紫微斗數學好，但我一直沒放棄提升我的寫作技巧。我發覺，鑽研寫作也有“吸靈氣”這回事，平時多用心細讀優秀作品，這樣自己寫作和教學時，靈感自然會源源不斷。

下面這個教學案例來自我的“吸靈氣”本領。學生寫的原文很 repetitive, 很明顯他 ran out of things to say。我思考如何啟發他時，突然想起，過往看過的一段來自著名英國評論家 A. A. Gill 的文字，然後我把 A. A. Gill 的 writing approach 直接在我的 rewrite 套用，就能解決學生的 too reptitive 問題。

A group of dinosaurs, a hero, and a villain who tries to get his hands on the dinosaurs in order to reach some evil goals. By now we are too tired of the Jurassic World franchise. The same formula hs been repeated more times than we can remember.

Jurassic World Dominion continues to proceed along the same lines, consisting of a clash between a hero and a villain with dinosaurs used in the background. This idea has been used too many times.

“For someone who looks this closely at the past, it is strange (Cambridge classics professor Mary Beard)  hasn’t had a closer look at herself before stepping in front of the camera. Beard coos over corpses’ teeth without apparently noticing she is wearing them.”

 

My Gill-inspired rewrite

For a film that is about dinosaurs, it seems strange that the producers behind Jurassic World Dominion didn’t notice before going ahead with the project that the Jurassic Park franchise had itself become a dinosaur. They channeled effort into an enterprise without apparently noticing that it should have followed the Tyrannosaurus rex in becoming extinct.
