網路評論員傑斯這樣形容他放監後，重臨譚文豪開的「一日三餐」看到的場景：「生意比以前差，人手不足，傷心的是很多樓面是剛轉行的記者。」（參考連結）

此情此景讓傑斯想起米蘭昆德拉的《生命中不能承受之輕》。在共產國家荒謬世界裏，知識分子和跟政府對着幹的人大部分不能做回自己的專業，甚至很難在社會生存。小說男主角Tomas本來是個醫生，因不願跟政權妥協而淪為洗窗工人；本來是飛機師和議員的譚文豪，也要為了生計開茶餐廳，每天都要上班，樓面水吧都做，現在還要結業，這些都是生命中不能承受之輕。（編按：譚文豪2021年2月底起因初選案遭還押至今）

聽完傑斯的評論，我想到我自己，突然覺得我為了能成爲獨立作家所作的付出，比起來真的是微不足道，我靠英文寫作教學來維持生計就可以了，做這種工作遭的「罪」，頂多是要陪學生寫關於princess, dragon, wizards, aliens等我不感興趣的題材，至今我已「被逼」寫數以百計這類的故事。

下面這篇以princess and dragon為題材的rewrite是過去一周寫的。學生的原文細節不夠，她喜歡Disney princesses和KFC，爲了提升她的學習興趣，我把這些元素插進我的rewrite。

I just discovered a dragon

Student

The dragon right in front of me is capable of breathing out fire. It also looks fierce enough to go to war with 100 lions. It has hard scaly skin and teeth as sharp as a vampire’s. Oh, it is now chomping through trees with ease. What’s worse, it is staring at me and breathing out fire at me. OMG! It is going to eat me and I’m going to be in terrible pain.

My rewrite

One night, a dragon appeared outside my castle and roused me from my sleep with this strange declaration: “As the most beautiful princess in the land, you are good enough to eat. I also mean this literally, so it’s going to be very painful for you!”

At first, I didn’t take him seriously. He was as towering as the Big Ben, while I only had 100 pounds of flesh on my five foot five frame. There was no way he could eat me and feel full.

The more I studied his appearance, the more repulsed I was by the idea of him touching me in any way. The lime-green snot trickling out of his hairy nostrils had the stench of rotten cheese. His slimy scales were caked in a blanket of grey mold – the kind you find piled up between tiles in a public toilet. His teeth were as sharp as icicles in Arctic caves.

Just as I was about to leave my bed and escape from him, he spoke again.

“Normally, I prefer princess sashimi. But lately, the thought of KFC is making my mouth water. So I’d like to roast your legs till it has the taste and texture of KFC chicken thigh – crispy on the outside, moist on the inside.”

In a flash, I felt a searing pain in my lower body. The distinct aroma of Colonel Sanders’ secret recipe floated upwards.

So the dragon was dead serious about eating me! – this was the last thought that occurred to me as I felt both legs ripped from my body…
